ABOUT US
After working in numerous private practice settings across Sydney, James and Mitch were driven to start IA Physiotherapy by identifying the need for greater honesty, integrity and transparency in physiotherapy practice. James and Mitch strive to provide a level of care consistent with professional athletes to all those in need of physiotherapy services, regardless of financial means or life station. At IA, our goal is to assist patients in understanding and managing their own injuries, through education, communication and patient care.

MEET THE TEAM
JAMES MACCANN

James graduated from Sydney University in 2011 with a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy, after initially completing a Masters in Exercise and Sports Science majoring in sports performance. Since then, he has worked in variety of private practice settings across Sydney, most recently in the Liverpool area.
James has worked with numerous recreational and professional sports teams across Sydney, including Bankstown Cricket, North Bankstown soccer, St George AFL and Sydney University basketball. He has completed postgraduate qualifications in dry needling, k-taping, casting and sports physiotherapy, and has conducted numerous occupational health programs, notably with Direct Freight Express, Menzies Aviation and Prysmian Cables.
James is a lifelong basketball fanatic and continues to represent the mighty Inner West Bulls. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children.
MITCH HOLDSWORTH

Mitch completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at The University of Sydney in 2016. Since then he has been working across numerous Sydney practices, including Caringbah, Bankstown and Revesby.
Mitch has a strong interest in sports rehabilitation, previously working within the Vanuatu Cricket Team, Menai Roosters Rugby league, Revesby Workers Football Club as well as Fire & Rescue NSW. Mitch also works within the Occupational sector providing workplace training, injury prevention programming and treating workplace injuries. Mitch is a big believer in treating all patients with the best available treatments, and taking his time with his patients, to allow them to have the best understanding of how to overcome their injuries.
Away from work, you will find Mitch in the surf, at the gym or spending time with his growing family. When we asked Mitch why he loves being a physiotherapist he said; ‘I just want to assist people to get the best out of themselves, to be able to do all the things they want to do without having to deal with the pain/frustration of their injuries!’.
ANWAR ALMUTAWAH

Anwar graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Newcastle. Helping people to achieve optimum recovery and improve their physical function is her main career goal. She has a strong interest in treating people with musculoskeletal injuries and a compassionate approach to improving function in those with chronic pain.
Anwar uses an evidence-based approach with her treatment and is always on the lookout for new ways to better manage and prevent injuries. Outside work, Anwar enjoys spending her time volunteering with community centers, staying physically active and spending her time with her husband and son.
NUMA SHAIKH

Numa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2012. She is deeply passionate about managing women’s health issues, such as pre-and postpartum rehabilitation and pelvic floor therapy. Numa also brings expertise in treating both paediatric and adult neurological conditions. Her professional experience in Australia spans multiple settings, including public and private hospitals, aged care facilities, and private practices. In her leisure time, Numa enjoys spending quality moments with family and friends, relishing the art of cooking, and exploring Sydney’s food scene.
